Goldie is an experienced general, laparoscopic, emergency and Bariatric Consultant Surgeon Est in Brighton 2012. His surgical practice centres around Brighton and Hove and he operates from 6 hospitals in Sussex and the South Coast. Goldie specialises in laparoscopic gall bladder, single or multiple complex recurrent hernias, adhesions, Gilmores groin/sports groin hernia, emergency/short notice surgery and Bariatric weight loss surgery.

Mr Goldie Khera went to medical school at Liverpool University; he taught physiology and was awarded an intercalated BSc (Hons) Physiology in 1995 researching molecular pain producing substances. Goldie qualified with an MBChB in 1998.
Most of his surgical training took place in the Mersey deanery, where he completed his MRCS; he subsequently spent 12 months as a registrar in Brisbane Australia in 2003 where he learnt laparoscopic gastro-intestinal surgery. After returning to Merseyside he successfully completed his FRCS in 2010; he then obtained his Certificate of Completion of training (CCT) – Specialist GMC Register 2010.
Mr Goldie Khera subsequently undertook a fellowship at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Hong Kong 2010, where regular robotic and advanced natural orifice laparoscopic surgery is undertaken. He was then selected for one of only two nationally selected Ethicon Bariatric fellowships at North Tyneside Hospital 2011-2012.
Mr Khera has a keen interest in surgical training and education. He has numerous publications and has presented his clinical research and on behalf of ASiT both nationally and internationally.
He has also been President of the largest UK surgical training organisation - the Association of Surgeons in Training (ASiT 2011-2012).
He performs most general surgeries laparoscopically and is part of the emergency surgical CEPOD operating team rota.
He has been a Consultant Benign Upper GI, General, Emergency and Trauma Surgeon at University Hospital Sussex (Brighton) Teaching Hospital NHS Trust since 2012. He is also Surgical module lead and Deputy director of Assessment and Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) and Imperial College London Medical school. He was previously the General Surgery representative for Higher Surgical trainees at Kent Surrey and Sussex (KSS) Deanery for over 5 years. He is past Chair of the Lewes Victoria Hospital (LVH) Theatre User Group.
He operates and does consultations across the South coast of UK at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath, Montefiore Hospital Hove, Nuffield Brighton (Woodingdean), Nuffield Haywards Heath as well as at the Lewes Victoria Hospital (LVH).
Mr Goldie Khera is married, enjoys interior design and DIY and loves gardening with his daughter – growing some fruit, vegetables and herbs. He enjoys the great outdoors especially cycling, canoeing, horse riding, skiing and walking with their cockapoo puppy! His hobbies also include amateur astronomy and astrophysics. Mr Khera was shortlisted for astronaut interview in Hamburg, Germany by the European Space Agency (ESA) in July 2008.
